following list of 25 citations of Conus inscriptus as
a presumed valid species name by 19 single or first authors over a span
of 28 years is presented in accord with Article 23.9 of the International
Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999), to document the prevailing
usage of Conus inscriptus Reeve, 1843 over its unused
senior synonym, C. quadratus (Röding, 1798).
