Lichens of Washington

Collinsia parviflora
Annotating Photographs:

Inevitably, some photographs will be found incorrectly identified. If you've found one, why not put your expertise to work and correct the mistake for the benefit of others? With password access you can annotate any photo right from your web browser.

Instructions:

To annotate a photo, navigate to the info page for that photo and click on the "Annotate Photo" button. If not already logged on, enter your user name and password as prompted, then you will be directed to a page where the species name associated with the photo can be changed and an annotation note can be attached. All annotations will be stamped with the name of the person who made the annotation and the date of the annotation.

An annotation can be made that changes the name of the species, or an annotation can be made that simply consists of a note without any change to the species name.

Annotations should only be made if you are certain the photo is incorrectly identified and you know what the correct name should be. In many cases it is not possible to reliably confirm the identity of a species solely by a photograph. In such cases do not make a "best guess"; rather, leave the photo as is or simply write an explanatory annotation note without changing the species name. Some photos have associated voucher specimens that should be consulted if possible.
