Somewhat succulent annual from a slender taproot, the erect, simple stems 1-6 cm. tall.
Distribution: Southern B.C. to California, east to eastern Washington and Oregon, part of Nevada.
Habitat: Open areas on rock, clayey soils, or sand.

Fleshy annual, the stems 5-30 cm. tall.
Distribution: Southern B.C. through California, east to Idaho, Utah and Arizona

Fleshy annuals, the stems 1-10 cm. tall.
Distribution: Throughout much of Western U.S., north to southern B.C.
Habitat: Sandy areas, shrublands, dry coniferous woods

Lewisia columbiana   (Columbian lewisia, Columbia lewisia)  
(= Lewisia columbiana in Flora of the Pacific Northwest)
Succulent perennial from a large, branched, fleshy root, the several flowering stems 10-30 cm. tall.
Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia south to California, east to Idaho and Montana.
Habitat: Open gravelly or rocky slopes and rock crevices at mid- to high elevations in the mountains.

Portulaca oleracea   (little hogweed)  
(= Portulaca oleracea in Flora of the Pacific Northwest)
Glabrous, fleshy annual with several prostrate, freely-branched stems up to 3 dm. long.
Distribution: Introduced from southern Europe and widely distributed in the United States.
Habitat: Gardens, disturbed soil
