Bidens cernua   (nodding beggarticks, bur marigold)

Annual, nearly glabrous throughout, 2-12 dm. tall. The leaves of Bidens frondosa have long, slim petioles, while the similar B. tripartita has leaves with winged petioles.
Distribution: Widely distributed throughout much of Washington; widely distributed throughout North America except Alaska and northernmost Canada.
Habitat: Wet areas at low elevations.

Bidens tripartita   (three-lobed beggarticks)

Annual, nearly glabrous throughout, 1-20 dm. tall. The winged petioles of Bidens tripartita should separate it from the very similar B. frondosa.
Distribution: Introduced in most of the United States, but uncommon in our area.
Habitat: Wet waste places, primarily at low elevtions.

Bidens vulgata   (big devils beggarticks, tall beggarticks, western sticktight)
