Distribution: Introduced throughout most of North America.
Habitat: Roadsides and waste areas.
Species Description:
General: Spreading to erect, freely-branched annual, 2-5 dm. tall, with some mealy coating, especially in the inflorescence.
Leaves: Leaves alternate, numerous, the blade deltoid to rhombic, 2-6 cm. long, rounded to acute at the tip, wedge-shaped to truncate at the base, irregularly wavy-dentate with 5-many teeth per side, green above and grayish beneath, the leaves only slightly reduced upward, narrowed abruptly to the slender petiole which is slightly shorter than the blade.
Flowers: Flowers sessile and single to glomerate in axillary and terminal panicles; perianth deeply 5-lobed, the segments oblong, rounded, not strongly keeled; stamens 5, opposite the perianth lobes; styles 2.
Fruits: The wall of the utricle adherent to the seed.
