Conservation Status: Abundant; of no concern.

Distribution: Occuring along the coast in Washington; Alaska south to northern Oregon, northeastern North America and Greenland.
Habitat: Coastal beaches and sand dunes.
Species Description:

General: Glabrous, mat-forming, yellowish-green, fleshy perennial from a rhizome, the numerous, trailing, freely-branched stems with upturned flowering ends 1-3 dm. tall.
Leaves: Leaves lanceolate to ovate, 1-3 cm. long and 5-20 mm. broad, smaller on the axillary branches.
Flowers: Flowers greenish, inconspicuous, single in the leaf axils or stem branches, sometimes monoecious; pedicels stout, short; sepals 5, ovate, 4-7 mm. long; petals 5, whitish, entire, equaling the sepals; stamens 10; styles 3.
Fruits: Capsule globose, 5-8 mm. long, opening by 3-5 valves.
