Habitat: Alpine talus slopes.
Species Description:

General: Grayish, finely-wooly perennial from a deep taproot and branched crown, the stems thick, 1- 2.5 dm. long.
Leaves: Leaves alternate, pinnate, crowded, subsessile, 2-4 cm. long; leaflets 11-17, linear elliptic to oblong-obovate, 8-16 mm. long; stipules oblong-lanceolate, rounded, 3-6 mm. long.
Flowers: Inflorescence of loosely 7- to 20-flowered racemes; peduncles equaling the leaves; flowers 7-10 mm. long; calyx 2/3 the length of the corolla, the 5 linear-lanceolate lobes up to as long as the woolly tube; corolla yellowish-white, the banner erect, the keel purplish tinged; stamens 10.
Fruit: Pod with a slender stipe longer than the calyx, 2.5 cm. long and 5-10 mm. broad, the body strongly inflated, membranous, glabrous, ellipsoidal, the lower suture intruded to form a septum nearly 1 mm. high.
