Conservation Status: Abundant; of no concern.

Distribution: Common in the east end of the Columbia River Gorge in Washington; Oregon south to northern Baja California and east to Nevada.
Habitat: Open slopes, fields and roadsides.
Species Description:

General: Taprooted annuals 1.5-5 dm tall; 1-several simple or moderately branched stems arising from basal rosette; leaves and stems with spreading hairs, those of the stems shorter and softer.
Leaves: Leaves alternate, narrowly oblong, the basal ones tufted and persistent, 2-10 cm. long and 5-20 mm. wide, short-petiolate; cauline leaves few, reduced upward.
Flowers: Inflorescence of elongate, often paired, false racemes; calyx deeply 5-lobed, covered with tawny, stiff hairs; corolla white with yellow center, the 5 lobes spreading, 5-9 mm. wide, the fornices well-developed; stamens included, the filaments short.
Fruits: 1-4 nutlets that are 2-3 mm long, somewhat granular-tuberculate; scar somewhat enlarged and medial.
