Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in southeastern Washington; southeastern Washington to California, east to Idaho and northwest Nevada.
Habitat: Grasslands, open slopes, forest edge, sagebrush desert, and other open areas at low elevations.

Slender annual 1-3 dm. tall, scabrous-puberulent and often spreading-hairy, becoming glandular above.
Leaves alternate, numerous, entire, linear, 6-25 mm. long and up to 1.5 mm. wide.
Heads solitary to numerous, terminating the branches; involucre glandular and sometimes hairy, 4-7 mm. high, the bracts sub-equal, with narrow, translucent margins infolded around the achenes; rays white, 2-7, broad, 4-10 mm. long, 3-cleft; disk flowers few, white; pappus of several narrow scales.
Achenes silky-villous, flattened at right angles to the radius of the head.
