Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington, but chiefly to the west; Alaska to California.
Habitat: Openings in moist woods, low to moderate elevations.

Perennial herbs from branching, slender rhizomes, the stems lax, often curved at the base, mostly glabrous, 1-4 dm. tall.
Leaves sharply serrate, the lower ones long-petiolate, the blades rotund or ovate, 1-4 cm. long; cauline leaves alternate, progressively narrower, longer, with shorter petioles, becoming sessile, linear bracts of the racemes.
Flowers several on long, slender pedicels; calyx lobes 5, entire, narrow; corolla bell-shaped, pale blue, 8-12 mm. long, the 5 lobes ovate-oblong, longer than the tube, recurved-spreading; stamens 5; style well-exerted; ovary inferior.
Capsule 3-celled, sub-globose, 3-6 mm. long.
