Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in north-central Washington Alaska to Washington, east to Montana and Colorado in the U.S., east across Canada to the Atlantic Coast; circumpolar.

Habitat: Rock crevices and wet banks and slopes, high elevations in our area.

Glabrous, stoloniferous perennial, the trailing stems up to 1.5 dm. long, branched and turned up at the tips.

Leaves alternate, chiefly basal or clustered toward the stem ends, with slender petioles up to 2 cm. long; leaf blades oval or reniform, 5-10 mm. broad, with 3-7 broad, rounded teeth.

Inflorescence of few-flowered clusters at the branch tips; flowers about 3 mm. broad, the 4 calyx lobes oval, petals none, stamens 4.

Capsule about 4 mm. long, the 2 carpels fused over half their length.
