Herbaceous, scapose perennial from a deep-seated corm, the scape 1.5-2.5 dm. tall.
Leaves 2, basal, not mottled, oblong-lanceolate, 10-20 cm. long, rounded to petioles 2-7 cm. long.
Flowers 1-3, nodding; tepals 6, distinct, lanceolate, white with a yellow base, 3-5 cm. long, reflexed; filaments 6, white, linear; anthers yellow; style slender, stigma 2-4 mm. long.
Capsule cylindric-obovoid, 1.5-3 cm. long.
