Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in Washington; central Washington to north-central Oregon, east to Montana and Wyoming.
Habitat: Open slopes and ridges, from low to middle elevations.

Delicate, scapose perennial from a tuberous-thickened root, the leaves nearly prostrate and the scape only a few cm. high.
Leaves basal, usually 2 or 3, biternate, the ultimate segments 1-4.5 cm. long and 0.5-4 mm. wide. The globose root up 1.5 cm. thick, and seated 2-7 cm. below the surface of the ground.
Inflorescence a compact, compound umbel, longer than wide, the few, unequal, spreading rays 1-2 cm. long; involucre and involucel wanting; calyx teeth obsolete; petals white, the anthers dark purple; pedicels up to 2 mm. long.
Fruit glabrous, oblong-elliptic, 3-4 mm. long, the lateral wings corky and bent down, the dorsal wings evident; stylopodium wanting.
