Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in eastern Washington; eastern Washington and adjacent Idaho.
Habitat: Grassy hillsides and prairies.

Perennial from a stout taproot, the stems solitary or several, 3-7 dm. tall, sometimes curved at the base; herbage hairy.
Leaves entire or with a few sharp teeth, the basal ones tufted, oblanceolate or narrowly elliptic, 7-25 cm. long and 1-3 cm. wide, the cauline leaves somewhat reduced upward, becoming sessile.
Heads several to many in an elongate inflorescence, the disk up to 2 cm. wide; involucre 10-16 mm. high, its firm, pointed bracts green-tipped or green throughout; rays 13-21, 6-10 mm. long, yellow; disk corollas 7-10 mm. long, yellow; pappus of grayish, uneven, capillary bristles.
Achenes elongate.
