Low perennial, often matted, the stems prostrate to ascending, 1-4 dm. long, glabrous.
Leaves opposite, sessile, thin, mostly glabrous, ovate to narrowly lanceolate, the margins smooth.
Flowers axillary and in terminal, leafy-bracteate cymes; pedicles slender, glabrous, 1-4 cm. long, erect to reflexed; sepals 5, lanceolate, acute, scarious-margined, 2.5-4.5 mm. long, 3-nerved; petals from nearly as long as the sepals to wanting.
Capsules narrowly ovoid, about twice as long as the sepals.
