2002: Colonial Creek
The first trip to North Cascades National Park targeted the areas around Colonial Creek Campground along Hwy 20. This trip was led by WTU's Sarah Gage with assistance from NOCA's Mignonne Bivin and Steve Hahn. The focus was low elevation forest and wetlands in the Thunder Creek drainage and surrounding slopes. A total of 159 collections were made along the Thunder Creek Trail, Thunder Knob Trail, Pyramid Lake Trail, and Stetattle Creek. Including the replicates, 411 specimens were gathered over three days, representing 152 taxa. Specimens collected on the trip were identified at WTU in fall 2002/winter 2003, with assistance provided by a Graduate Research Assistantship funded by North Cascades National Park. Volunteers from WTU included Amy Dearborn, Cindy Spurgeon, Dena Grossenbacher, James Duemmel, Jeff Walker, Kimiora Ward, Nancy Job, Robert Goff. |
