Perennials with short or long lifespans, from a crown not typically woody; stems simple from caudex branches, 10-40 cm tall, glabrous or sparsely pubescent near base with stalkless or nearly stalkless trichomes to 0.3 mm with 2-3 rays, glabrous distally.
Basal leaves oblanceolate, 2-6 mm broad, margins entire, petiole ciliate with trichomes to 0.6 mm, sparsely to densely pubescent above and beneath, nearly sessile trichomes to 0.3 mm with 2-6 rays; cauline leaves 3-15, commonly hiding stem near base, lobe-like appendages at base 0.7-2.5 mm, surfaces usually becoming glabrous towards ends of stems.
Inflorescence 5-25-flowered, typically unbranched racemes; fruiting pedicels horizontally spreading to ascending, curved or not, 4-8 mm, glabrous, secund; flowers ascending; sepals 4, glabrous or pubescent with dispersed trichomes; petals 4, purple to light purple, 6-8 mm long and 1.5-2.5 mm broad, glabrous; pollen spheroid.
Siliques 3-5.8 cm long and 2-3.5 mm broad, spreading horizontally to ascending, slightly curved or not, with parallel edges; valves glabrous; seeds in 1 series, 1.1-2.2 mm long and 1.2-1.6 mm broad, with a continuous wing 0.3-0.7 mm broad.
