Distribution: Circumboreal, extending south to southern Washington and Pennsylvania

Botrychium lanceolatum in the broad sense consists of two genetically and morphologically distinct taxa recognized here as B. lanceolatum and B. viride. These have also been referred to as the red genotype and green genotype, respectively.
