Distribution: West of Cascades crest in Washington; Alaska, coastal Oregon and California to Bay Area, Arizona, New Mexico, Wisconsin to Maine, Eastern Seaboard south to North Carolina; Canada.

Habitat: Open woodland.

Substrate: On conifers.

Conservation Status: Not of concern


Thallus bushy, up to 5 cm. in width, dark brown with divergent and short pointed branches 0.3-0.5 mm in diameter.
