Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; southern British Columbia to California, east to the Rocky Mountains.

Habitat: Open rocky areas, open forest, forest edge, and disturbed areas.

Flowers: March-June

Description:
General:

Fleshy annual, the stems 5-30 cm. tall.

Leaves:

Leaf blades green or pink, not glaucous; basal leaves petiolate, the blade linear, much longer than wide; cauline leaves sessile, the blade linear.

Flowers:

Inflorescence racemose, one-sided, with a single bract, the bract leaf-like, 0.5-15 mm. wide; flowers 2-8 mm. in diameter; sepals 2; petals 5, white or pink; stamens opposite the petals.

Fruits:

Capsule with 3 ovules.
