Distribution: Only in North America
Habitat: It occurs in a variety of habitats, including conifer, mixed, and hardwood forests on litter, humus, rotting wood, and in mosses.
Conservation Status: Not of concern
Cystoderma fallax is distinctive because of its large, flaring, membranous ring. The color of the cap and lower stipe is cinnamon-brown or rusty orange-brown and the gills are white, often with a pinkish tint.
