Habitat: Sublapine meadows to alpine slopes.

Description:
General:

Biennials or short-lived perennials, base not branched, bearing scapes; stems 0.4-3 dm, typically unbranched, pubescent near base but generally becoming glabrous distally, with 2-4-rayed trichomes on short stalks.

Leaves:

Basal leaves forming rosettes; petiole not clearly defined, ciliate margins with simple trichomes; blades oblanceolate to obovate, 0.4-2.6 cm long and 1.5-7 mm broad, margins entire or finely toothed, ciliate with simple trichomes; pubescent above and beneath, upper surface with 3-4-rayed trichomes on short stalks, lower surface with simple and stalked trichomes with 2-4 rays; cauline leaves usually 1-2, sometimes absent or up to 4, sessile, blade elliptic to lanceolate, sometimes ovate, margins serrated, pubescent above and beneath, upper surface with 3-4-rayed trichomes on short stalks, lower surface with simple trichomes and 2-4-rayed trichomes on short stalks.

Flowers:

Inflorescence racemose, usually 4-10 flowered, ebracteate, some elongation in fruit; rachis rigid, typically glabrous, sometimes scarcely pubescent; fruiting pedicels horizontal to spreading-ascending, straight, slightly shorter than fruit, usually lacking pubescence, with 2-4-rayed trichomes; sepals 4, green or purple, oblong, 1.5-2.5 mm, pubescence present or absent, with simple trichomes; petals 4, yellow, oblanceolate, 2.5-3.5 mm long and 0.6-1 mm broad; anthers 0.25-0.4 mm, ovate.

Fruits:

Siliques 10-17 mm long and 1.5-2 mm broad, generally linear, plane, flattened; valves glabrous or uncommonly scarcely pubescent with simple trichomes; ovaries containing 24-36 ovules; seeds ovoid, approximately 1 mm long and half as wide.
