Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to California.

Habitat: Wet open areas, ledges, rock outcroppings from moderate to high elevations in the mountains.

Flowers: February-August

Description:
General:

Herbaceous perennial from short, horizontal rhizomes, the 1-3 leafless, reddish-glandular stems 1-2.5 dm. tall.

Leaves:

Leaves basal, the blades ovate, up to 6 cm. long and 3 cm. wide, with 15-30 rounded teeth, reddish-woolly on the lower surface; petioles slender, shorter or somewhat longer than the blades.

Flowers:

Inflorescence an open, flat-topped panicle, the bracts reddish-woolly; calyx reddish-woolly, divided about half its length, the 5 ovate lobes 1-2.5 mm. long; petals 5, white, 2-3.5 mm. long, broadly ovate, narrowed abruptly to the base; stamens 10, the filaments awl-shaped, reddish; ovary about 1/3 inferior.
