Distribution: Northern hemisphere.

Identification Notes:

Velvety cap, dark brown to olive gray, which develops cracks that may be red when cap is mature. Pores large, irregular, yellow, stain blue. Stem yellowish, turning red. Flesh white to yellow, may turn blue when cut.
